PLATFORM

Education. Healthcare. Freedom. A Georgia that works for every family.

Families across Marietta and Cobb County are feeling squeezed—housing, healthcare, energy, and transportation costs keep rising while the State Legislature too often focuses on political distractions instead of helping people thrive.

I’m Graham Bowers—a technology professional, a lifelong Georgian, and a recently married gay man building a life and family here in District 37. I’m running because I believe government should do two things exceptionally well: educate our kids and keep our communities healthy—while protecting our basic freedoms and creating real opportunity for everyone.

My North Star

A Georgia where:

  • Every child can attend a great public school

  • Every family can access affordable healthcare

  • Every worker is treated with dignity

  • Every person’s freedom is protected

  • And every community has the power to shape its own future

Restore Local Control on Transit

I will sponsor legislation to remove the state-imposed lockout that prevents communities from returning to voters on transit funding for years after a failed referendum. Cobb and metro Atlanta are growing.

Our needs change. Voters should be allowed to revisit big decisions—not be barred for nearly a decade.

Transit is affordability policy. When people have real options, families can save on gas, car repairs, and time lost in traffic—while strengthening economic development.

Allow Public Servant Collective Bargaining in Georgia

Georgia’s public servants—teachers, school staff, firefighters, nurses, sanitation workers, and other essential workers—deserve a real voice at work.

I will sponsor legislation to allow public sector collective bargaining so workers can negotiate over wages, benefits, and working conditions in a structured, accountable process. That’s how we improve retention, reduce burnout, and strengthen the public services all of us rely on.

This is about fairness and stability, not disruption. It’s about treating public service work with dignity—and building a government that functions better because workers and employers can solve problems at the table.

Education: Fully Funded Public Schools + Real Opportunity

Strong Public Schools, Not Political Games

Public schools are the backbone of opportunity and the heart of our community. I will fight to:

  • Fully fund K–12 education so schools can reduce class sizes and deliver the support students need

  • Raise educator pay and protect the professionals who teach and support our kids

  • Expand mental health supports in schools and invest in counselors and student wellness

  • Protect academic freedom and keep politics out of the classroom

  • Improve career and technical education pathways alongside college prep—because success looks different for every student

Higher Education That Builds Georgia’s Future

Georgia’s colleges and universities should be engines of opportunity, research, and workforce growth. I will fight for:

  • Increased public investment in higher education to keep tuition and fees down

  • Competitive pay and cost-of-living adjustments for university faculty and staff

  • Strong protections for academic freedom so learning and research aren’t chilled by political interference

  • Workforce partnerships that create paid pathways from education to good jobs

Enshrine Marriage Equality Into Georgia Law

Marriage equality should not depend on which politicians are in power or which court is hearing which case.

I will sponsor legislation to enshrine marriage equality into Georgia law and remove outdated language that treats LGBTQ+ families as second-class. No family should live with uncertainty about whether their marriage—and the protections that come with it—will be respected.

Freedom means you get to live your life, love your family, and build your future without government interference.

Healthcare: Affordable, Accessible, and Protected

Healthcare Is a Right

No one should have to choose between paying the rent and seeing a doctor. I will fight to:

  • Expand access to affordable coverage for working families

  • Protect access to reproductive healthcare and the freedom to make personal medical decisions

  • Lower prescription drug costs and support transparency against price gouging

  • Strengthen mental health care access, including crisis services and long-term treatment

  • Support caregivers and seniors with policies that keep people healthy at home, not pushed into crisis

A Progressive Cost-of-Living Agenda

Affordability is not a side issue—it’s the issue. I will fight for:

  • Housing policies that increase attainable supply and protect renters and homeowners

  • Stronger homestead exemptions and targeted property tax relief for seniors and working families

  • Consumer protections and fairness so corporate power doesn’t raise costs while families get squeezed

  • Smart public investments—like transit and infrastructure—that reduce household costs over time
